Gorski Places 6th in the State
Sophomore Krys Gorski all year long was building on a landmark Freshman swim season, and it all culminated in placing on the podium at the OHSAA State Swim Meet
Following a season when Krys Gorski placed his name in the record books for Andrews Osborne Academy as a freshman by becoming the school's first state qualifier, he knew he was coming into his sophomore season with more expectations this time.
Throughout the season, Gorski swam his way to first place finishes in a number of different events, including 500M Freestyle, 100M Backstroke, and 50M Backstroke.
Following the Regular Meet Season, it was time to kick it up a notch and lock in on returning to States for Gorski. Andrews Osborne made another huge team impression at the Sectional Swim Meet at SPIRE in early February, but Gorski was the only one to move on to Districts, qualifying in 100M Butterfly and 100M Backstroke.
Still, there was room for improvement if the young swimmer was going to return to Canton. Krys responded in a huge way, clocking in at 51.26s in his 100M Backstroke swim out of Lane 1, leaving no doubt he'd be returning to the State Swim Meet the following week. The only question remaining was whether he could also advance in the 100M Butterfly. Posting another strong time, Krys was on to States in both races.
Hosted at the CT Branin Natatorium in Canton, OH, Krys was returning to familiar ground, hoping to build upon last year's appearance. And building on his already extraordinary achievements is exactly what he did. To begin his night, Krys swam the 100M, clocking in at 52.85, good for 17th overall. While he fell short of advancing to the next round, Krys still had his best race to go, the 100M Backstroke. In the opening round, he posted a 51.26, getting himself into the Top 5, qualifying for the Final Round the next day.
In the end, Gorski made good on his goal to reach the podium, placing 6th in the State of Ohio in the 100M Backstroke. Gorski has made the entire AOA Community incredibly proud, and has everyone looking forward to see what more he can accomplish as a student-athlete at Andrews Osborne.
