Middle School Academics

In the Middle School, your child’s development builds on the skills mastered in the earlier grades, while providing a bridge to the challenges of high school. Middle School students are curious, engaged, multi-faceted, and full of energy. At Andrews Osborne Academy, we nurture that spirit by providing a caring and supportive environment that challenges students to achieve personal excellence.
At the heart of the Middle School is a traditional, challenging curriculum rooted in fundamentals which are presented by our engaging, caring professionals. Students engage in interdisciplinary units of study throughout their sixth, seventh, and eighth grade years. From a cross curricular experience of Ancient Greece, reliving colonial times, or engaging in seminars about current world issues, students are actively engaged and challenged to cultivate their creative and critical thinking skills, while developing a global perspective.

Middle School Virtual Tour

After School Care

Middle School students not participating in an after-school club or activity that need to remain on campus are invited to the Lee Library from 3:30- 5:00 p.m. to participate in quiet homework or reading time. After 5:00 p.m. students will report to the Lower School After Care Program which ends at 6:00 p.m.

Readiness for High School

One exciting component of the Middle School program is the Genius Project. Each year, students dream, create, and blog about a project of their choosing. We encourage students to explore their talents, develop academic and leadership skills, and build confidence while engaging in work that is individually meaningful to them. To conclude their Genius Project, students prepare and present speeches sharing their efforts with their fellow Middle School student peers, faculty, and parents.

Your child’s readiness for high school requires social and emotional development. For this reason, we have developed an advisory program that begins in the Middle School. Each student is assigned an advisor that is made available to them throughout these critically formative years. Our advisory program offer students support and flexibility to engage in a variety of active learning experiences. Through a combination of individual and small group advising, the Middle School advisory program aims to support students academically, promote personal ownership, and cultivate a sense of community through service and tradition. We feel "If you have a child's heart, you have their head" and our teachers/advisors are able to target student special interests to engage and empower them in meaningful ways.
