Diary of Anne Frank- February 15th- 17th
Anne Frank was born in Frankfurt German, 1929. Daughter of Otto and Edith Frank and younger sister to Margot Frank. Anne was growing up in a time where there was widespread unemployment and poverty and the support for Hitler and his anti-semitic view was growing.  With the growing public hatred of Jews and no available jobs the Frank family moved to Amsterdam.

Mr. Frank Found a job and the Frank Family started making a new life for themselves. Things were “normal” until the Nazis invaded Poland in 1939. A few days later the Nazis took control of the Netherlands, where Anne Frank and her family had made their new home.  Slowly but surely the Nazi regulations made going out in public harder and harder as more and more places were not open to “Jews”. Eventually people who were Jewish had to start wearing the Star of David as a symbol of just being Jewish.

Our play of The Diary of Anne Frank is going to tell you the incredible story of the Frank family, living through the Holocaust, told from the pages of Anne’s diary.  She kept record of the TRUE story of her family and another Jewish family hiding for 2 years in the “Secret Annex”.  She passed the time during the day writing about the daily interactions and activities and her own internal thoughts and feelings about hiding just so you can stay alive.  This play Anne gives us a glimpse into what it was like living in a time of great fear and uncertainty.
