International Week

April 18th-22nd 2022

Cultural Dress-Monday, April 18th 
Students may come to school dressed to appropriately represent a country or culture

  • The dining hall will feature a meal from a different region each day. 
  • Thank you to everyone who submitted receipts for this year's cookbook. We will be rolling out cookbooks before spring break. If you would like to order a hard copy we recommend a $2 donation please click here to pre order. 
  • If anyone would like to create a video of your family or friends cooking or teaching about how to create a cultural dish please share that with us by emailing 

Cultural Fair 
  • Posters and cultural artwork will be on display in the Dining Hall throughout the week. There will be a designated drop off area in the small dinning room two weeks prior to International Week. We ask that all pieces are turned into the small dinning room. If you need supplies please see Mr. Deeter

Earth Day (April 22nd)
For earth day each division will be participating in different activities
  • Lower School will be making birdhouses from recyclables Please save and send in your clean jugs. 
  • Middle School will be feeding the birds by making some hangable bird seed feeders and also creating some bird seed mandalas in the fields. 
  • Upper School will be doing some campus clean up gathering trash, planting flowers, and preparing campus to welcome guests. 

Performances (April 22nd)
  • Our cultural performances are one of the most memorable parts of our International Week tradition. 

Festival (April 22nd 5pm-7pm)- open and free to AOA Families and the Community
AOA’s International Festival will feature:
  • AOA performers 
  • Cleveland Ballet 
  • Fine Arts Associations African Dancers
  • Farmount's Flamenco Dancers
  • Fred Astair's Latin Dancers and more. 
There will be activities all around campus including:
  • Athletics (Baseball and Croatian Soccer)
  • A Willoughby K-12 cultural heritage arts show by the Willoughby Arts Collaborative
  • Food trucks - The TacoBus and Cultural Pops (At cost, please bring money) 
  • AOA’s Culture Fair 
  • We will have a table in support of Ukrainian Refugees if you would like to make a donation or participate in a craft activity.
  • We will also be hosting the Mentor and Willoughby Girls Scouts World Thinking Day.
We hope you will come Be Our Guest and travel around the festival. Kids can get their passport stamped at each station.
