Meet the Coaches

Jim Barbarich is the Girl's Varsity and JV Coach.  He has enjoyed the game of soccer since the age of 3, and has played competitively for 16 years, refereed for 3 years, and coached for 4 years.  Mr. Barbarich, in his first coaching assignment at Oxon Hill High School in Maryland, was able to mold a team with a history of losing seasons into a strong district competitor.  He began his AOA soccer coaching career in 2008.  With many returning and new players who are eager to play, Mr. Barbarich looks forward to his 2nd season of AOA soccer.  He is also an Upper School faculty member and teaches Physics, Chemistry Honors, Chemistry AP, Advanced Biology, and Biodiesel.  Mr. Barbarich can be reached at jbarbarich@andrewsosborne.org or 440-527-8054.

Mark Mallon is the Boy's Varsity and JV Coach.  Mr. Mallon holds the USSF "A" License, NSCAA Premier Diploma, English FA Badge, and Scottish FA Badge.  He is also the Director of Coaching & Player Development at The Soccer Institute and TSi Premier FC youth soccer club in the greater Cleveland area.  Mr. Mallon was a collegiate All-American and earned a Bachelor's degree (with a K-12 teaching certification) in Health & Physical Education from West Chester University.  He also attended the Athletic Administration graduate school program at Temple University.  Mr. Mallon previously was a NCAA Division I coach at Yale and was the Head Men's Coach at the University of California - Berkeley.  He can be reached at MarkMallon@TheSoccerInstitute.com.


Scott Jones is the Co-Ed Middle School Coach.  Mr. Jones has been a life-long participant in soccer.  He lettered in soccer in high school, played in college, and has been a coach for many years.  Most recently, he coached the Middle School team at Canton Country Day School, worked with the Minerva area YMCA to develop their youth soccer program, and was the Assistant Varsity Coach for the Minerva boy's high school team.  Mr. Jones enjoys coaching soccer while making the sport fun for the students.  His children, Joey and Jordan, are both Upper School students at AOA.  He can be reached at 330-417-7101.
