“You Have to Start Somewhere”
Instructor- Laura Webster and Molly Mitchell
This will be a clinic on the training of young and/or green (inexperienced) horses. This will encompass many facets, from haltering and leading to basic riding. Different methods and training ideas will be discussed and demonstrated, with possible hands-on opportunities. Safety and the development of confidence in the horse will be emphasized.

“Oh, My Aching Back!”
Instructor- Andrea Stuehr
Ms. Stuehr is the owner of her own LLC, Andrea Stuehr Equine Sports Massage Therapy. She spends her time traveling around the country working with some of the nation’s hardest working horses, helping to keep them in top competitive form. In this clinic, she will explain the benefits of massage therapy for all types of horses, and demonstrate a session. The horses love to see her coming down the barn aisle- join us to find out why!

“Becoming Savvy”
Instructor- Sara Welsh, owner of The Savvy Saddle
This is a very in depth clinic on the importance of tack cleaning and care. Mrs. Welsh has developed a business based solely on the proper care and preparation of tack. She will instruct on the different types of leather, the need for daily care and other types of maintenance needed, as well as how to properly store your tack to make it last.

“Would You Like Oats with That?”
Instructor- Representative from Western Reserve Feed Company
This clinic will cover the basics of equine nutrition, and the ways in which our feed choices can affect our horses. Information will include reading and analyzing feed tags, calculation of amounts, what to look for in your horse, and different feed and supplement options on the commercial market.

“You Can’t Fall Off if you are Already on the Ground”
Instructor- Laura Webster
Lunging, Long-Lining, and Driving will be covered in this clinic. Safety and proper technique will be emphasized in all ground work demonstrated. Attendees will learn the different types of equipment needed, and its intended use for different situations. Hands-on opportunities will be available for those who wish to practice, and haul-ins will be welcomed.
*Extra cost will be involved for those hauling in for this clinic. Daily Haul-in fee is $20, and limited stabling will be available for $40/day.
March 10, 2012 1:00-3:00 p.m.
“What’s a NARHA?”
Instructor- Stephanie Brock
This clinic will cover the area of therapeutic riding. Mrs. Brock is a certified NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicapped) instructor, and has years of experience in the field of therapeutic riding and hippotherapy. She will discuss the benefits of riding for individuals with disabilities, what is needed from the horses used, and the struggles and successes that she herself has encountered. This is a great opportunity to learn about a unique and important facet of the equestrian community. A demonstration and hands-on opportunities may be a part of this clinic.

“Are We There Yet?”
Instructor- Molly Mitchell
This clinic will cover the basics preparing, loading, and transporting horses. Attendees will learn about the proper equipment and care necessary to best ensure safe travel, different methods of loading, types of trailers and vehicles needed, and commercial shipping. Demonstrations will be included.

“The Ins and Outs of In and Outs”
Instructor- Bernie Villenueve
Course design and set up will be the focus of this clinic. Bernie Villeneuve, AOA’s trainer and course designer, will be explaining the basic aspects of creating a safe and fun jumping course. Hunter and Jumper disciplines will be covered, with information including distances between fences, turns, and combinations. Attendees will then assist Mr. Villeneuve in creating the course for the next day’s schooling show.
