  • Middle and Upper School Spanish Teacher

    Andrews Osborne Academy seeks candidates for a Middle and Upper School Spanish teacher (grades 6-12). This is a full-time position beginning in August 2024. Candidates should possess the ability to build and maintain a strong Spanish program for the school. 

    AOA is an extraordinary school, known throughout the region for offering a community built upon deep and meaningful relationships between and among teachers, students, families, and staff, and for developing a superlative educational paradigm. That paradigm is invested in two deeply held beliefs - that students need to think critically AND creatively, and, that knowledge is deepened through plurality. An AOA education empowers students to develop into empathic and caring global citizens capable of leading the way into a dynamic future.

    Responsibilities include the ability to teach Middle School through advanced Spanish courses in the Upper School. A bachelor’s degree in the Spanish language is necessary; a master’s degree is preferred but not required. We are looking for an innovative candidate with mastery of the Spanish language, plus the ability to collaborate and be a team player within the department. The ideal candidate is a passionate and skillful educator, who is eager to invest her/his talents in our Spanish programs.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Teaching up to 5 sections, with specific levels and the needs of the department
    • Active participation in our student life program, which may include responsibilities such as residential supervision
    • Supervision of co-curricular activities outside the classroom, which may include sports teams, community service activities, clubs, or school publications
    • Serving as an academic advisor to a group of students
    • Participation in school-wide and faculty events and gatherings
    • Involvement in relevant task forces to enhance our educational environment

    Qualifications:
    • A love for Middle and Upper School education
    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • Demonstrate a high level of Spanish mastery
    • Ability to work in a collegial and highly collaborative environment
    • A growth mindset, an active sense of humor, warm personality, and excellent organizational and communication skills
    • Ability to work independently, as well as on a team.
    • Availability to coach or contribute to our residential program is preferred

  • Assistant Houseparent

    Andrews Osborne Academy is seeking to fill the position of Assistant Houseparent in the area of Residential Life for the 2023-2024 school year.

    The Assistant Houseparent (AHP) is responsible for monitoring and supervising the boarding school students living in their house. Top candidates for AHP should be patient, empathetic individuals who are good communicators and enjoy working with young people. Previous residential life, teaching and/or coaching experience preferred. Possessing a global perspective and having experience living/traveling abroad are highly beneficial but not required.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    ● Fostering and maintaining a house culture that is inclusive, fun, and safe
    ● Developing meaningful, appropriate relationships with all students in the house
    ● Implementing house activities in accordance with the Residential Curriculum
    ● Being responsible for the house while ‘on duty’
    ● ‘On duty’ one night per week (6:00PM-8:00AM the following morning)
    ● ‘On duty’ every other weekend (6:00PM Friday - 8:00AM Monday)
    ● Ensuring students are following proper residential procedures
    ● Communicating regularly with HHP regarding all student disciplinary matters
    ● Monitor weekly chores and ensuring the House remains ‘tour ready’ at all times
    ● Administering student medication as needed
    ● Co-supervising student Proctors assigned to the house
    ● Attending weekly meeting Residential Life Team meeting
    ● Assisting the Director of Residential Life in coordinating student travel plans
    ● Supplemental duties as required by the Director of Residential Life

    Compensation Package:
    ● Studio or 1 bedroom apartment provided in assigned house
    ● Full meal plan provided in AOA Dining Hall

  • Head Houseparent

    Andrews Osborne Academy is seeking a new community member to fill the position of Head Houseparent in the area of Residential Life for the 2024-2025 school year. 

    The Head Houseparent (HHP) is responsible for monitoring and supervising boarding school students living in their house. Top candidates for HHP should be patient, empathetic individuals who are good communicators and enjoy working with young people. Possessing a global perspective and having experience living/traveling abroad are highly beneficial but not required. Candidates should be eager to engage fully with the vibrant community that characterizes our academy.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Fostering and maintaining a house culture that is inclusive, fun, and safe
    • Developing meaningful, appropriate relationships with all students in the house
    • Implementing house activities in accordance with the Residential Curriculum
    • Being responsible for the house while ‘on duty’
    • ‘On duty’ three nights per week (3:15PM – 8:00AM the following morning)
    • ‘On duty’ every other weekend (3:15PM Friday – 8:00AM Monday)
    • Ensuring students are following proper residential procedures
    • Working in a professional relationship with an Assistant Houseparent
    • Conducting a House Meeting once per week
    • Monitor weekly chores and ensuring house remains “tour ready”
    • Administering student medication as needed
    • Co-supervising student Proctors assigned to the house
    • Attending weekly Residential Life Team meeting
    • Assisting the Director of Residential Life in coordinating student travel plans
    • Working during ‘Snow Days’ and other weekdays when school in not is session
    • Supplemental duties as required by the Director of Residential Life

    Compensation Package:
    • Annual stipend

  • Prep Soccer Assistant Coach

    Overview:

    The Assistant Coach of the AOA Prep Soccer Program is essential in supporting the Head Coach across all facets of the program, including training, player development, team management, and promotional efforts. This role emphasizes not only direct engagement with student-athletes to foster their growth but also proactive involvement in marketing the program through social media and other channels to enhance visibility and engagement. Special emphasis is placed on goaltending coaching to strengthen this crucial aspect of team play. The Assistant Coach will report to the Head Coach and collaborate with other staff to ensure the program's success.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Assist in developing and implementing the soccer program, ensuring a cohesive and comprehensive approach to training, competition, and player development, with a particular focus on enhancing goaltending skills.
    • Support the recruitment process of mission-aligned student-athletes and actively promote the program via social media platforms and other marketing avenues.
    • Help plan and conduct practice sessions, game strategies, and conditioning programs.
    • Contribute to fostering a positive, inclusive, and respectful team environment.
    • Aid in organizing team logistics, such as scheduling, travel arrangements, and communication efforts.
    • Participate in community and school engagements to promote program visibility and support.
    • Assist in the management of soccer camps, focusing on skill improvement, team cohesion, and specialized goaltending coaching.
    • Support the program’s financial management tasks, including budget tracking and fundraising activities.
    • Ensure adherence to all relevant athletic, school, district, and state guidelines.

    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
    • 2+ years of experience in soccer coaching, with a strong emphasis on goaltending coaching, or a related role.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Knowledge of soccer techniques, coaching best practices, and youth development.
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a team setting.
    • Commitment to the educational and athletic mission of AOA.

    Additional Information:

    This position may require evening and weekend commitments. The Assistant Coach will actively engage with the school community and uphold the program’s standards and values. Compensation will reflect the candidate’s experience and qualifications, demonstrating a commitment to the development and success of the AOA Prep Soccer Program.
